Carbon offsetting: what is it?
Offsetting their carbon footprint allows individuals, companies, organizations, and communities to balance their own GHG emissions by financing GHG reduction projects carried out by a third party. Committed players can therefore offset their incompressible CO2e (e: equivalent) emissions and those inherent to their operations and achieve carbon neutrality in accordance with net zero objectives. This is an innovative type of climate commitment that is at once accessible, pragmatic, participatory, and community-based.
Our carbon offsets come from a grouping of more than 2500 microprojects carried out by numerous small and medium-sized companies from various sectors, non-profit organizations and Quebec municipalities whose actions to reduce greenhouse gases are grouped under what we call the « Sustainable Community ». Each micro-project has been validated under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) program.
