Claude Villeneuve, a tireless popularizer of science, has written numerous books and articles on sustainable development, and has appeared on many radio and television programs. A popular lecturer, he knew how to make his knowledge accessible to all. His commitment to sustainable development through international conferences is considerable.

Carbone Boreal: A visionary project

Launched in 2008 by Professor Claude Villeneuve and researchers at UQAC, Carbone Boreal is a program to offset greenhouse gas emissions by planting trees, coupled with a research project. This innovative project is studying the role of afforestation of forest heathlands in the fight against climate change, and testing a number of related scientific hypotheses. To date, almost 2 million trees have been planted, offsetting 161,800 tonnes of CO2 and generating over $3 million for research.

A lasting legacy

Claude Villeneuve has left an indelible mark on the field of sustainable development. His hard work and pioneering vision will continue to influence and guide global efforts for a greener future. His legacy will live on through the many projects he initiated and the countless people he inspired.
