These GHG reduction efforts were achieved by: 1) recovering waste heat emitted by the arena’s compressors; 2) switching city hall’s heating from oil to electricity; 3) installing solar panels on the roof of the city’s garage. In addition to reducing the carbon footprint of the city of St-Gédéon-de-Beauce, all of these efforts have diminished the province’s reliance on fossil fuel energy thereby increasing Quebec’s energy independence.
