Carbone Boreal: A visionary project

Launched in 2008 by Professor Claude Villeneuve and researchers at UQAC, Carbone Boreal is a program to offset greenhouse gas emissions by planting trees, coupled with a research project. This innovative project is studying the role of afforestation of forest heathlands in the fight against climate change, and testing a number of related scientific hypotheses. To date, almost 2 million trees have been planted, offsetting 161,800 tonnes of CO2 and generating over $3 million for research.
