Facts
- Crude oil barrels/day/Québec: ≈ 300 000 unités;
- Crude oil barrels/year/Québec: 109 500 000 unités;
- Corresponding GHG emissions (MT eCO2): 61 371 465.
The annual trade deficit for oil in Quebec (est. 100$/barrel) is of $ 10 950 000 000.
Sustainable Community Solution
Developed and operated in Québec by Will Solutions, the Sustainable Community Solution aims at reducing GHGs by 32 million metric tons of C02 from 2010 to 2020. According to the EPA’S Greenhouse Gas Calculator, that represents an annual GHG output of 5,7 million passenger vehicles or the planting of 745 million trees to sink those GHGs. 80% of the targeted GHG reductions by Will Solutions would come from Quebec’s small and medium sized businesses. This plan would directly reduce Quebec’s dependence on fossil fuels. If successful, Will’s Sustainable Community Solution (2010-2020) will contribute to reduce Quebec’s energy dependence on oil by 4,9% yearly until 2020 and by 6,7% in 2020 alone. For a 10 year period that is equivalent to removing 5,7 million vehicles off the roads or planting 744 million trees. And all of these reductions from Will’s Sustainable Community Solution come at the small and medium sized business level where it is difficult for federal governments to reach but easier for local populations to get involved.
